Road Trip down the Baja
We spent another month in the States taking care of business and escaping the heat. We weren't sure how we would get back to La Paz. We had purchased one way tickets
to LAX.
Jim and Heather came to our rescue as they were planning on driving down the Baja to La Paz. They picked us up in San Diego and the road trip began. Jim and Heather
have made this trip many times so they were great tour guides.
First stop was San Quintin - about 150 miles south of San Diego. We stayed at the Old Mill Inn.
Guerrero Negro
The trip to our
next stop -
Guerrero Negro -
was highlighted by
the cactus, trees,
rock formation and
road work.
San Ignacio and Santa Rosalia
Day 3 found us on the way to Santa
Rosalia. Before we reached Santa
Rosalia we stopped in the pretty
little town of San Ignacio. We saw a
nice cathedral and a cool cemetery.
South of Puerto Escondido
We were all very surprised about how green it was between Puerto Escondido and La Paz thanks to Julio and
Lowell.
Roadside Monuments
Mexicans honor those
who have been killed on
the road with roadside
monuments. They could
be as simple as a small
cross. Or they could be
very fancy.
Unfortunately, Baja's
Highway 1 is a very
narrow and very curvy
two lane road. We
counted over 430
roadside monuments.
